PSHE and Healthy Relationships

PSHE at Weston draws upon our own contextual knowledge of our children and their needs. Alongside this, we use the curriculum guidance outlined by the PSHE Association and the statutory guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021 and Teaching Online Safety in Schools and deliver our PSHE/SRE curriiculum through Jigsaw, a comprehensive programme for Primary PSHE and SRE, giving our children relevant learning experiences to help them navigate their world and develop positive relationships with themselves and others.

With a striong emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health, Jigsaw enables us to deviver engaging and relevant PSHE within a whole school approach. Lessons also include mindfulness, allowing children to advance their emotional awareness, concentration and focus.

Themes addressed are:

  • Being me in my world
  • Celebrating difference, inclusong anti-bullying
  • Dreams and goals
  • Healthy me
  • Relationships
  • Changing me-including Sex Edcation.

The progression through the school can be found in the documents below.

PSHE learning is also taught explicitly through our Restorative Circle time every week, but also interwoven across all aspects of our curriculum. Online safety is a thread that runs through all of our learning.

PSHE/SRE is led by Ros Atkins & Laura Simpson.
