History
What makes a good History student at Weston?
An awareness of, and interest in, the cultural richness which surrounds them at Weston and a fascination with the diverse world which surrounds them. A strong knowledge and understanding of chronology, knowing the time between their units and where their unit of study fits on a timeline. The ability to research and question the reliability of sources. An understanding of causes and significance.
About History
Our history education will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. We aim to inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. Teaching equips pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.
To prevent learning loss in the Humanities between Historical or Geographical themes, we ensure continuity through regular reminders of prior learning, and intelligent repetition through quizes and knowledge & skills checks.
