David Hockney - Sunflower Art
Lesson: Art and design
During our last topic 'Good to be Green', we studied the work of British born artist David Hockney. We looked at examples of his artwork and discussed the techniques he uses and the style of his paintings to give us inspiration for our own.
We then tried various techniques to recreate a picture of a Sunflower. First, we tried a grid method of sketching then we used stencils to trace from. As a class, we decided the tracing produced the best results. Check out our forest school blog to show how we took inspiration from nature to create our own colours which we eventually used in our paintings.
