Design Technology

What makes an effective DT student at Weston?

A passion for creativity, using research and prototypes to design and evaluate their work successfully and adapt their design to their findings. Also, trying to create new things and experiment with materials to produce the best quality product possible.

About Design Technology

At Weston Primary School all children will be taught to develop their creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday design and technology tasks, confidently and enthusiastically, to help them to participate successfully in an ever increasingly technological world.

They will build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users and will be able to critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others and that they children will understand and apply the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook a range of recipes using the correct tools safely and confidently.

At Weston, we strive to teach design and technology that will excite, enthuse and grow our children creatively with passion towards a bright future.

Over the past two years, we have developed links with The Heath High School’s DT department. The DT lead at the Heath has provided staff CPD and bespoke product packs linked to the class topic
