Meet Our Governors

Russell Houghton- Chair (Co-opted Governor)

Hello, my name is Russell Houghton, and I am Chair of Governors at Weston Primary School. I'm also a parent of 1 child at Weston, Jack, who is currently in Year 6. I have been a governor at Weston for 6 years. I am a firm believer that no matter what our strengths are: academic, practical, performing arts or sporting, it is the role of the school to help young people grow and realise their potential. I'm also very proud of our school and the inclusive reputation that we have. The school are fortunate to have an incredibly talented staff, both teaching and non-teaching who strive to make sure all children are happy and deliver to the best of their ability and are open with parents at all times to make sure all is well.

The role of the governing body is to hold the school to account on behalf of all children and parents, to ensure we are always striving for the highest standards and delivering the best education the school can. It's a role all the governing board take seriously, investing their time into the role and, covid permitting, all members of the board are regular visitors to school to ensure the highest standards are being delivered. We have a dedicated group of governors with diverse skill sets from different backgrounds, both educational and non-educational.

On a personal level I'm married to Amanda with 2 children,  Leah who is at college and Jack who, as mentioned above, is at Weston. I'm a sales manager at Telefonica O2, looking after a team of account managers. Whilst my job is demanding, I'm also fortunate that my employer supports and encourages me to invest time in the role as chair of governors at Weston. As part of my job I spend a lot of time working with technology and looking at how we can best support businesses to grow using the latest products and technology available. I'm hugely passionate about the benefit technology brings to all of us and actively encourage school to adopt these tools, for the benefit of staff and pupils. As our children grow into an ever-changing world, it is our role to make sure they are best equipped to thrive in the future. In my spare time I like to play golf, I'm a Liverpool fan and love spending time with my children.

I'm incredibly proud to be Chair of Weston Primary School and if you are a parent/grandparent/guardian of a child at the school and you would like to meet me to discuss anything to do with school please contact school and I will be happy to meet you. As a final note I would like to wish all the children at Weston the very best in their time with us.

Russell Houghton

Lisa Parkes - Vice Chair (Co-opted Governor)

My name is Lisa Parkes and I was elected as a parent governor in November 2016. I am a mum to four boys the youngest of which William is currently in year six at Weston. I am currently a chair of Governors in another local school and find both roles informative and rewarding, especially as you are able to have a positive influence into how the school is run and how we can work together to raise standards and improve outcomes for all children. Outside of school, I work part time as an Send teacher at a school in Liverpool and feel that my own experience of the education system allows me to bring different views and ideas to our meetings to help move the School forward. As parent governor I am always available if you need to discuss any issues or ideas you may have to help Weston carry on being a warm and inclusive school.
